TB 21: SHELLI VARELA Fire Captain to TEDx

Shelli Varela Went From Fire Captain to TEDx stage

Shelli Varela has quite a remarkable story she shared on Thriving Beyond. Shelli Varela stumbled into the world of firefighting. Which for a small framed, petite female wasn’t the most advantageous endeavor. Then (actually 1162 days later), she found herself as the first female firefighter in Canada’s sixth largest city, and ultimately worked her way up to Fire Captain– despite tremendous adversity and protagonists.

Have you been told you couldn’t do something, be something, or achieve your dream? Even though you KNEW you were meant to do it?

Shelli has been there and conquered the fear and barriers that hold most people back. Now, she wants to empower YOU to take bold steps in your life by employing the exact same techniques that led to her – and many others – achieving amazing personal results.

Shelli Varela loves helping confused women go guns-a-blazing’ towards the life of their dreams. From first female firefighter in Canada’s sixth largest city to the high-ranking position of Fire Captain and on to “Firefighter of the Year,” in 2010.

Shelli has been featured in the Globe and Mail, Toronto Sun, Mississauga.com, Women’s Post and the Mississauga News. Shelli is also a multi-talented entrepreneur. She has guided women with stories of her own success and bravery through her travels with Firefighters Without Borders, and she is the author of a children’s book, Peanut Meets the Pigtailed Firefighter. Her ‘why not me’ outlook has inspired men and women from all walks of life to follow in her footsteps by taking her challenges in stride and rising above each of them.

Also earned being featured on a TEDx Mississauga stage. Shelli silenced the naysayers and rocked it ON HER TERMS.
